Harsh Breaking Events at Stale Green Lights

TVS Weekly Video Intelligence Report – Monday, August 16, 2021

Hey drivers and safety departments, the largest category of harsh braking events we see are stale green lights. A stale green light is a traffic light that is green when you first see it. You do not know how long it has been green. Assume it will change before you get there, and be prepared. Being prepared for the light to change will prevent you from reaching the Harsh Event g-force threshold by braking at the last second. It improves your safety score and possibly prevents an intersection intrusion or more.
